the challenge
During the execution of our energy savings project on site, there were catastrophic failures of 2 (out of 5) air compressors. One was not repaired, the other was replaced with a different compression technology, altering the energy intensity of the respective compressors on site.
The solution
This change (from a centrifugal compressor to a Variable Speed Rotary Screw) required a complete rework of the control design that Climatech Zero had finalised for the original compressor configuration.
The results
The savings for the site were delivered despite last minute changes to the operating conditions and system design. The chiller for chilled water supply was also replaced as part of the project, delivering a high-efficiency chiller to replace the old, oversized one that was currently on the site.
